07/28/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Chance is a versatile 2B/OF prospect who has a well-rounded skill set and graduates in 2018. In the field, Chance plays with quick footwork and agile actions creating effective angles to cover a large territory. He works around the baseball and fields it in an athletic position with a firm glove. Chance has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He plays with good momentum through the baseball showing strong, accurate throws across the diamond. As a right-handed hitter, Chance has an athletic, crouched stance with his weight in the front of his setup. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and square, on-time stride. Chance shows fast bat speed with an on-plane swing path producing square contact. He has the ability to spray the ball to all fields. During his time at Pirate City, Chance played hard on every play, had a couple of diving plays and hustled on and off field. He worked hard in all drills and asked lots of questions which earned him the Gatorade Award. Overall, Chance has a talented skill set on both sides of the ball with the right approach giving him good potential to take his game to the next level.

02/26/2017 - College PREP - Waco, TX Chance is a lean 2B who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.01. In the MIF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays clean/fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and presents a soft/sure glove well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his turn/feeds of the double play. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup with good balance. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path with late explosion. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Chance has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
