07/29/2017 - Under Armour All-America Game, Powered by Baseball Factory Chandler pitches from a high three-quarter arm slot giving outstanding downhill plane to his fastball that sits comfortably in the low 90s, and shows occasional cut. As would be expected, his curve has good downer action as well and acts as a quality swing-and-miss pitch. Chandler's repertoire also includes a change that has some deception giving him three quality pitches. He throws strikes with all three, making Chandler one of the many high upside arms in the 2018 class. He is committed to USC.

06/03/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Chandler is a talented right-handed pitching prospect who has a well-built, projectable frame and an above average skill set. ON the mound, Chandler has a balanced, repeatable delivery working downhill keeping his head on his target. He has good timing and a loose, clean arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. Chandler extends through his release and stays square to home plate with a controlled landing at the proper stride length. He does a nice job rotating towards his target and effectively using his front side. Chandler has cut on his fastball at 88- 92 MPH. His curveball has 12-6 o'clock break and he has a good feel for his deceptive changeup. Overall, Chandler has high upside and the potential to be a difference maker at the next level.

09/24/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures West Chandler is quite a presence on the mound at 6'4", 195 pounds with a quiet confidence to his actions and demeanor. He attacks hitters with an upper 80s fastball that gets on hitters in a hurry thanks to a simple, low-effort delivery. He is quiet and controlled throughout with the ball jumping out of his hand to the plate. He has some downhill plane to his fastball setting up his downer curve very well. That pitch has good depth and 11-5 shape with very good rotation. There is a lot to like here - a durable, big frame with a clean arm, a potential swing-and-miss pitch in his breaking ball, and the ability to throw strikes with his stuff. Look for big things from Chandler.

07/22/2015 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Chandler proved to be a strong go-to arm that challenges hitter (6'4"/200). On the mound, this righty has a solid mound presence and looks the part. He works to a tall balance point and drives off the rubber, downhill toward the plate. FB ranges from 85-87 mph while showing some arm-side run & sink. Curveball has 12/6 shape with good action, proving to be a solid out pitch. He commands the zone, mixes his pitches well and gives hitters uncomfortable at-bats. He throws strikes consistently and works ahead in the count. With the bat, Chandler shows balanced setup with a strong base. He displays patience with good zone awareness waiting for his pitch (proven by drawing 3 walks). Barrel delivery is quick as he connects with pop, driving it to all parts of the field. At 1B, Champlain shows active footwork and moves well around the bag. He makes the plays with soft/sure hands and can pick it. Chandler has a ton of upside and is a solid prospect who will get a ton of looks over the next couple of years.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
