Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/SSPosition Projection

12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Chandler is a quick twitch athlete that showed well in all areas at his most recent outing with Baseball Factory. Offensively, he had good rhythm and athleticism to get to a launch position and fired the barrel through contact on a direct path. He showed an accurate barrel and with a strong bat angle will begin hitting with pop. On the hill, he worked with a quick pace and free arm action. His FB had downhill plane and he threw it for strikes low in the zone. Off-speed pitches flashed decent action, but needs work on release points. More fluidity and repeatability through a controlled tempo will allow for the arm & body to work together for eventual command. Defensively at SS, he worked around the ball with good angles and made plays with a sure glove. He displayed good feel for the position and with added arm strength will be able to make the plays in the 6-hole. Overall - Chandler plays the game hard and leads by example.*****Chandler has been clocked as high as 85 mph on his fastball and posted a 7.66 second 60 at a non-Baseball Factory event*****

10/26/2014 - College PREP - Peachtree City (Atlanta), GA Chandler is a solid RHP/2B that will graduate in 2017. Currently, he projects best on the mound for the next level. Delivery is repeatable as he uses his lower half well and allows his arm action to work long and well to the plate through a 3/4 arm slot. Arm strength is solid as indicated by his top velocity of 80 mph. Fastball shows a range of 77-80 mph with late arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Off speed stuff shows potential for working effectively at the next level. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches through a quick / fast tempo. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At 2B, he shows good body control and clean hands as he works to square balls up. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he presents hands more out front. At the plate, he shows an open / balanced setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields and closed up stride. With 3 years to further develop, Chandler has an upside on the mound and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve, possibly as a 2 way player.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
