01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Channing is an athletic prospect who showed well throughout the week. He commits to a solid middle of the field approach and displays a direct, level bat path to consistently hit line drives. Speed out of the box and down the line shows top of the order potential. Defensively, an easy arm stroke and carry on his throws lead to the ability to make tough plays down the line. Hands are smooth and clean to field and get rid of the ball quickly. Channing is a solid all-around player who can impact the game in multiple areas.

07/28/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Channing is a lean 3B who continues to better his game. He showed above average foot speed as he ran a 6.70 in the 60yd dash. In the infield, he attacks the ball before presenting his glove, fielding out in front. He has a quick, accurate arm action allowing him to get rid of balls in a timely fashion. He shows great range laterally and has a good feel for the backhand play down the line. With the bat he starts from an open stance and has a quiet approach being quick and direct through the zone. He lets the ball get deep allowing him to drive pitches the other way. Channing is athletic with good intangibles which makes him a solid prospect moving forward.

05/07/2017 - College PREP - College Station, TX Channing is a lean, athletic 3B who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is excellent as indicated by his 60 time of 6.76. At 3B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Hands are soft / sure but will benefit by presenting more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry across the diamond. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Channing has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
