03/15/2015 - College PREP - Waco, TX Erick is a 6'1/175 lbs switch hitting sophomore OF/LHP. Defensively, he worked behind the ball and made plays with sure hands out in front. Working to play through the baseball with momentum and staying in a direct line to throw to his target will boost velo and accuracy. Offensively, he hit with with a square set up from both sides and had good rhythm throughout his swing. Staying consistently compact with his barrel delivery from both sides will increase his bat speed and allow him to hit with more pop. On the hill, he threw a FB from 77-79, spun a 2/8 CB at 68-69, and showed a KN with some float from 73-74. Mechanically, he was smooth in his windup and with his overall actions. Becoming more controlled with his body and staying in a straight line to the dish will help to improve his control and velocity. All in all - Erick is a promising switch hitter that has another 2 years to add strength for the next level.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
