07/27/2022 - Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Charles continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities at the SOUTHWEST 17U TOURNAMENT. Foot speed has increased as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/07/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (AZ) Charles is a 2023 3B who showcased his skills during the Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-American Tournament. In the field, he showed a quick/clean transfer, with a quick arm stroke, and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. Throws were accurate and on-line with good carry across the diamond. At the plate, he hits from an upright and even stance. Starts with a short glide step and activated hands. A quiet head and level eyes enable him to track pitches well. He made contact to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 85mph. During the games, he showed his ability to keep hands inside ball as he had an opposite field single and drew a walk. With another year of continued growth and development, we foresee Charles making huge strides on the baseball field.

10/17/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Reno, NV Charles is a 3B in the class of 2023. His tools in the field are the strongest part of his game. He flashes good footwork and the ability to cover ground to both sides of his body. Fields from a low position with his hands presented out front. Clean exchanges and a loose arm action lead to good throws across the diamond. At the plate, he starts in a tall stance. Does a good job staying balanced throughout his swing. Flashes late bat whip with good hand to hip separation. Exit velo worked up to 84 MPH. Shows a good approach and works gap to gap. Charles is a good player with 2 years of high school left to continue to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
