12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Charles is a solid 3B/RHP with a strong lower half that will graduate in 2015. Currently, he projects best on the mound for the next level. Delivery is sound/repeatable allowing his arm action to work well to the plate and hides the ball well. Fastball shows a range of 81-83 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with sweeping action and shows potential as being a quality pitch when he stays on top. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and develops another off speed pitch. At 3B, feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, displaying clean hands as he makes the plays. He shows smooth actions and plays under control. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to increase foot quickness and present hands more out front. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he shows an athletic/squared setup with rhythm. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact and has some strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power numbers will improve as he learns to load more and use his lower half. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. Charles has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his abilities.
