Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OFPosition Projection

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Charles continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. In the OF, he utilizes his quick/aggressive feet as he moves well laterally, displaying range (6.76 60 time) as he covers a ton of ground. He displays smooth / clean actions with hands / feet working well together through the fielding process as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and zip (92 mph velocity) on his throws. Charles has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the college coaches with his baseball abilities.

03/15/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Monterey Park (Los Angeles), CA Charles is a (2019 grad) R/R 2B who has a projectable frame (5'7"/145). With the bat, this RHH shows a square setup with quiet actions. He remains athletic with fluid rhythm, waiting for his pitch. Swing is level with bat whip as he connects with pop. Defensively, Charles has plus instincts with quick actions. He presents his glove, funnels well, and has a quick/clean exchange to throw. Overall abilities will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Hand/Swing path
2. Lower 1/2 drive
3. Extension through contact
Defense
1. Arm strength (long toss)
2. Angle to GB
3. Field ball more out in front

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
