06/16/2019 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Charlie continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. In the MIF, defensive abilities have improved, now showing outstanding skills as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Throws are accurate with zip (81 mph velocity) across the diamond as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and works through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

03/24/2019 - College PREP - Greenville, SC Charlie is an athletic SS prospect who will graduate in 2021. In the field, Charlie shows efficient footwork and flashes good lateral range. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Making more accurate double play feeds can help Charlie improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes his stride on time. He is fluid getting back into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed and good extension, leading to consistent contact and line drives. Charlie can improve as a hitter by taking a shorter stride. Overall, Charlie is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
