12/27/2021 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Charlie is a 2023 3B/RHP prospect who showcased his skills during the Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic. On the mound, he shows a good presence on the mound with a good feel for pitching. Starts with a simple rocker step and shows a quick arm who accelerates out front. A 3 pitch pitcher who showed good feel for all 3 of his pitches. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 80mph with plus command, an 11/5 shaped slider with tight spin, and a changeup with arm side run that he throws with FB arm speed. In 3 1/3 innings of work, he punched out 3 hitters and threw over 50% of his pitches for strikes. In the field, he starts in an athletic position, with quick feet, and takes aggressive routes to baseball. Creates good fielding angles while fielding from an athletic fielding position. A quick/clean exchange and creates momentum to his target. Throws were accurate with good carry and an arm velocity up to 82mph. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and open stance with comfortable hands. Controlled swing who gets on-plane early and showed a fast barrel through the hitting zone. He hit hard line drives to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 83mph. During the games, he showed his ability to work counts as he had 2 singles and had 4 walks. With another year of continued growth and development, we see this 2-way prospect making huge strides on the baseball field.

07/25/2021 - All-In Membership - Walnut Creek, CA Charlie is an athletic 3B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, he displays well above average hitting / power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At 3B, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works around the ball and plays through with his body. Hands are soft and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 78 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With 2 years to further develop, Charlie has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
