01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Charlie continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Defensive grade are now outstanding with hands feet working well together through the fielding process. He displays clean / smooth actions and moves well side to side, displaying range. He shows off his athletic abilities on slower roller play and has big play potential. Throws are accurate with life and on line carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he shows a squared / balanced setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, displaying gap to gap pop.

10/25/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Peachtree City (Atlanta), GA Mizzell continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Defensive grade have improved, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process and he shows off his athletic abilities on feeds of the double play as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with carry on his throws. He needs to present glove more out front and increase foot quickness to continue to improve defensive grade. At the plate, hands are loose and quick and works through a level swing path through an athletic setup. He is strong and has strength in his swing with baseball coming off his bat a little differently when centered, mainly to the pull side.

07/29/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Charlie is a lean 3B/RHP that will graduate in 2018 with a promising future on the diamond. Currently, he projects best at 3B for the next level. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered, displaying outstanding power potential as he works to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields. At 3B, feet are active as he works to squares balls up and fields out front. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he increases foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 72-74 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to grow as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and develops better off speed stuff. Mental makeup is a plus as he plays hard and is very coachable. With 3 years to further develop, Charlie has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the college coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
