01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Charlie continued to show as a prospect at the UAAAPS Tournament. In the field, Charlie shows active footwork and centers the ball in the middle of his body. He gets into a low, athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body with soft hands. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws which allows them to be accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load and maintains center balance. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed which leads to square contact to all fields. Charlie is a skilled prospect who has upside on the diamond.

10/04/2017 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Charlie has everything you look for in a high-level baseball player, from the tall/athletic frame to the outstanding tools all over the field. He has made himself into an elite defender at short with the actions and arm strength that are coveted at the position. His lower half is explosive in his first step and lateral agility as he covers everywhere from the hole to the bag to make plays. He has soft quick hands and the athleticism to make plays no one else on the field can, to go along with the rare combination of a lightening quick release and strong arm. He shows up at the plate as well, with quick hands through the zone and a level path that lead to lots of base knocks. His lower half generates bat speed and pop as he extends through contact to spray line drives to all fields. He is a coachable player who is a great teammate and a leader on the field. Charlie is an exciting prospect who we believe will be a difference maker at the next level.

04/23/2017 - College PREP - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Charlie is a tall, lean SS who is a prospect on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.06. In the MIF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays quick / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents out front. He moves well laterally, displaying range in the MIF. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line carry across the diamond. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Lower half works well through the swing and shows plus barrel accuracy with gap-to-gap pop. With 3 years to further develop, Charlie has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
