05/28/2020 - 2020 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South Chase continues to show well across the board with a lot to like in multiple facets of the game. He showed a 4-pitch arsenal on the mound with a fastball up to 92 mph and a curve with bite as his go-to offerings. Chase also swung the bat with authority from both sides of the plate during batting practice. He has pull-side power from both sides with the ball coming off the bat hard. At 1B he's an athletic defender with excellent hands and good feel around the bag - and of course a ton of arm strength (97 mph raw arm strength)!

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Chase continues to show as a top prospect at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / sure and he showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Feet / hands work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy / carry (96 mph velocity) on his throws. He moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate he continues to show as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity), generating bat speed through an aggressive swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, this righty has a 3 pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. Fastball showed a range of 89-92 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Chase has a big upside with the makings of a solid draft pick in 2021.

05/28/2019 - 2019 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South Chase is an athletic and talented 2-way prospect. On the bump, Chase has good tempo in his delivery and competes. He touched 89 with run on his fastball and has good depth on his splitter. He gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and works north to south in his delivery. Continuing to drive his backside toward the plate will increase his direction. At 3B, Chase presents a low/early glove, he works through the ball, and has a strong arm. He needs to continue to improve his footwork to the ball and stay through his backhand. At the plate, Chase is a switch hitting power hitter from both sides of the plate. He starts in a tall and open stance. He stays balanced through contact, looks for the ball middle-out, and barrels the ball consistently. Chase will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
