Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/SSPosition Projection

12/17/2011 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament - Session 1 Anderson continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and now projects best on the mound for the next level. Arm strength has improved as he topped out at 82 mph. Fastball showed a range of 77-82 mph with solid arm side sink. Breaking ball displays sweeping action and shows potential as he gets on top. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches and locates down and away well. His body is projectable and has upside if more arm strength is developed. At SS, feet are active and he displays soft, clean hands. He needs to present hands more out front and plays through balls more to improve defensive grades. At the plate, Anderson shows an athletic setup with balance. He works to keep hands inside the ball and uses the middle of the field well. To improve hitting grades, he needs to work on getting stride foot down sooner to be on time. Power grades will continue to improve as he learns to stay back and use his lower half more

10/02/2011 - College PREP - North Little Rock, AR Chase is a thin and athletic 2-way player who is a solid SS. Defensively, he has sure hands, a clean exchange and turns the DP smoothly. His arm is loose and quick and his throws show average strength and carry. Defensive grades will improve if Chase can field the ball out front and play through the ball. One the mound, he throws 3 solid pitches and can hit his spots effectively. Chase has on-time separation, smooth rhythm, and finishes in-line to his target. At the plate, he displays pop to the pull-side, creates extension, and is a gap-to-gap type hitter. Avoiding the high leg kick and getting more of his lower 1/2 through will improve his hitting grades. Chase is a solid player with a bright future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
