12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Chase is an athletic 2021 SS prospect that hustles around the yard. At SS, Chase presents a low/early glove, he's on time with his prep step, and has a quick first step to the ball. He fields the ball in front of his body, turns double plays well, and throws from multiple arm angles. He needs to continue to improve his range and arm strength. At the plate, Chase loads his hands back into the drive position, attacks the inside part of the ball, and keeps the barrel on plane. He hits the ball to all fields and runs the bases well. He needs to continue to create backside drive and load attack the fastball. Chase will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see him continue his progress.

09/30/2018 - College PREP - Raleigh, NC Chase is a lean, athletic SS who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 60 time of 6.99. At SS, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft / sure but needs to present more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. With 3 years to further develop, Chase has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
