06/25/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Chase is a very coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Omaha National World Series. On the mound, this lefty maintains fluid rhythm/tempo and repeats well. Separation is smooth and he gets good glove-side lead, driving downhill off of the rubber. FB now tops out at 74 mph as he works it in and out. Changeup shows to be best off-speed pitch as he throws it with FB arm speed - helping to create deception. Striding more square will allow him to finish with more extension (not fight to throw across body). In the OF, he hustles to his right and left to track down fly-balls. He secures the ball and gains ground toward his target with a crow-hop. As a hitter - Cook shows a square setup with patience waiting for a pitch he likes. He takes a hack and looks to drive the middle of the field. He showed the ability to make adjustments each day in the camp, which was proven at the plate. Swinging on a more direct path while engaging his full lower 1/2 will result in increased power. Chase is a hard working individual who has upside (2018 grad) with still time to fine tune his skill-set.
