Official Scouting Report

  • LHP/1BPosition Projection

12/05/2021 - All-In Membership - Pensacola, FL Chase is an LHP/1B who will graduate in 2024. Tall frame with a lean build and strength present with plenty of room to develop. At 1B, he gets good reads off bat and efficient footwork enables him to take good angles to balls. Square fielding position as he fields ball out front with ability to make routine plays. Throws from a ¾ arm slot with an arm velocity of 89mph across the infield. On the mound, this left-handed pitcher works with good tempo. Good direction towards plate and ability to throw strikes. Attacks hitters with a FB that was up to 80mph, a breaking ball 1/7 shape, and a changeup he throws with FB arm speed. A left-handed hitter, starts with an athletic and wide stance. Quiet head/eyes enable him to track pitches well. Showed good awareness of the strike zone. Did a good job getting his lower ½ through the baseball. Exit Velo worked up to 81mph. As he continues to develop and mature, we see him having a bright future on the baseball field.

06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Chase continues to shine on the diamond. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. Fastball shows a range of 77-78 mph. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Off speed pitches show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to work to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he increases foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive swing path.

02/28/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Daytona Beach, FL Chase is a tall, lanky LHP/1B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth, athletic actions. Feet are active as he displays proper foot work around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft / sure and he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. At the plate, he continues to shine. He stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression (86 mph exit velocity) as he connects with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 68-71 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Chase has an upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
