09/26/2018 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic Chase is a coachable SS prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Arizona Freshman Fall Classic. In the field, he shows active footwork and gains ground well. He gets into a low position and fields the ball with soft hands. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws which allows them to remain accurate and on-line to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and leads well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to square contact and line drives. Mental makeup is a plus as he works hard, makes adjustments, and is a great team player.

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Chase is an athletic 2022 SS/OF prospect. At SS, Chase has an active prep step, creates angles to the ball, and plays through the backhand. He presents a low/early glove, works from the ground up, and has a clean exchange. At the plate, Chase loads his hands back into the drive position, and gets his front foot down on time. He stays balanced through contact and uses the lower half. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball will allow him to create backspin on the ball. Chase is a hard worker and is eager to get better. Chase will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

09/03/2017 - Interactive Video Program - San Francisco, CA Chase is a solid athlete at SS/OF. Defensively at SS, he shows loose/athletic actions with agility to his backhand side. He funnels GB's with smooth/soft hands and comes up firing strong throws to his target. He makes the backhand play cleanly with a smooth transfer. In the OF, he shows active footwork as he tracks down and works behind the fly ball. He plays through the ball, gains ground with good crow-hop and makes accurate throws to his target. At the plate, Chase presents fluid rhythm to load. He explodes his lower 1/2, whips his barrel quickly through the zone and consistently drives pitches with hard contact. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Prep step
2. Less steps when throwing
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Outfield
1. Lateral quickness
2. Footwork on approach to the ball
3. Follow through on throws
Offense
1. More load in hands
2. Stay balanced

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
