01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Chase is a long, lean 1B/LHP prospect who works his hardest at all times and is a great teammate. He shows very good control on the mound with the ability to work to all quadrants of the strike zone with both of his pitches in any count. He has an easy, repeatable delivery and works with good tempo to keep his body in sync and get to a consistent release point. He features a mid-60's fastball with sink and a 2-8 curveball with sweeping break, both with clean arm action. At the dish, he shows a balanced setup with good plate discipline to work the count and earn his way on base. He works in line to the pitcher with a smooth stride and swing to show good contact ability and put the ball in play consistently. Activating his hands will get him ready to hit earlier and improve his swing path to make harder contact. At first, he works around the bag with agility and has a feel for where to be on balls in play and when receiving throws. He shows extended range and works aggressively to the ball to field low with presented hands. Chase is an exciting, projectable prospect we look forward to continue following.
