05/28/2023 - National Showcase - York, PA Chase continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is firm and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (85 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (83 mph velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 78-79 mph with arm side run. Slider ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Cutter has tight spin with short break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/20/2022 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at JRTC - Session 1 Chase is a 2024 SS/RHP who showcased his skills during the BF Christmas Camp and Tournament. At SS, he starts in a good posture and plays with good energy. He worked to center the baseball and fields from a square fielding position with a low funnel. He showed ability to get rid of the baseball, with accurate throws, and an arm velocity up to 85mph. At the plate, he hits from an upright and even stance with high hands. He activates his hands, with weight between his knees, and takes an aggressive swing. He gets on-plane early and has a high finish. He hit line drives consistently to all fields with a with a bat exit velocity up to 82mph during BP. During the games, he proved to be a tough out as he reached base 5 times with a double, 3 singles, and a base on balls. A right-handed pitcher, he has a good mound presence and a good feel for pitching. He has his shoulders in-line to his target and has a controlled landing. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 79mph with sinking action, and a 10/4 shaped breaking ball. Chase is a solid 2-way player who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

07/17/2022 - Baseball Factory Los Angeles All Star Experience (Ages 14-18) Chase continues to show improvements with his baseball abilities at the All-Star Classic. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate with on line carry (86 mph exit velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

07/27/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (HS) Chase is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series at Pirate City. In the field, Chase shows active footwork with a quick first step. He fields in a square position and has a clean exchange, making strong throws across the diamond. Working to soften his hands can help Chase field ground balls more efficiently. At the plate, this switch hitter sets up in an athletic stance with loose hands. He works to barrel up the baseball and drives the ball to his pull side. Chase can create more consistent contact by working through a shorter swing path. On the mound, Chase gathers over the rubber and works with a loose arm. He stays inline toward the plate and extends through his release, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Chase operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 72mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 60-62mph with 11-5 break. Splitter sits from 60-62mph with good downward movement. Finishing square to the plate can help Chase improve his pitch command. Overall, Chase is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

03/20/2021 - Spring Pro Training Experience - NJ (HS) Chase continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with power showing best to the pull side. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 68-71 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

03/14/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Manalapan, NJ Chase is a 2024 SS/RHP. Medium frame athletic build with some present strength and room to add more strength. Primary SS, efficient footwork and aggressive angles. Fields low to high and square fielding position. Works through the ball and shows dependable hands. Good actions on DP feed and pivot. Quick transfer and makes accurate throws with good carry across the diamond. Secondary right-handed pitcher throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. Good rhythm and direction to his delivery. Locates his fastball well with some arm side sink. Throws a curveball and slider from the same window. Mixes in a developing changeup with occasional movement. Right-handed hitter who starts with an open and upright stance. Flat bat through with zone with uphill tilt. Rotates well to the ball with extension though the zone. Hit line drives into both gaps during his BP round. Has a bright future at the next level with continued development and growth.

12/13/2020 - All-In Membership - Manalapan, NJ Chase is an athletic SS/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he attacks ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 4 years to further develop, Chase has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
