12/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Chase is a coachable SS prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. In the field, Chase shows a good first step and efficient footwork. He gets into his fielding position on time and fields the ball out in front with relaxed hands. He makes a two-handed exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate to his target. Chase can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is controlled getting his hands activated and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a smooth swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact and solid pop to his pull side. Adding strength can help Chase improve as a hitter. Overall, Chase is a solid prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

10/21/2018 - College PREP - Potomac, MD Chase is a lean SS who has a promising future on the diamond. In the MIF, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He shows a solid backhand with range improving as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. With 2 years to further develop, Chase has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
