07/15/2017 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Chase is a talented OF/2B prospect who has an athletic build and versatile skill set. In the field, Chase plays with quick, fluid footwork and agile actions showing an effective first step to get a good jump on the baseball. He has an aggressive approach and presents his glove as he fields the ball in an athletic position with soft hands. Chase has a quick, clean exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays with good momentum through the ball and quick release. Chase shows consistently strong and accurate throws. As a right-handed hitter, Chase has a square stance with a firm front side and centered balance. He has good rhythm with a short stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Chase has quick hands with an on-plane swing path getting good extension at contact. He has the ability to spray the ball to all fields. Overall, Chase has a well-rounded skill set on both sides of the ball giving him high upside to be an impactful prospect.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
