Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SSPosition Projection

07/09/2018 - College PREP - Portland, ME Chase is a young SS with an athletic frame. Defensively, Chase has young actions, efficient footwork to the ball, and he fields in a low position. He presents his glove well, has a clean exchange, and throws with consistency and direction to his target. Defensively, skills can improve if Chase can quicken his feet, play more through the ball, and loosen his arm action. At the plate, Chase has an open stance, a square stride, and he loads well. He has good intentions at the plate, some bat speed, and hits hard to the pull side. Hitting numbers can improve with better rhythm, more lower body, and with work on barrel accuracy.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
