01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Chase is an athletic OF prospect who showed well at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. In the field, Chase takes a good first step and shows quick footwork. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a quick exchange and throws with a loose arm, keeping his throws accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He is on time getting into a simple load and drives through well with his lower half. He generates fast bat speed through the zone and rotates his core well, leading to loud contact and great pull side pop. Overall, Chase is a talented prospect who has the skill set to contribute at the next level.

07/24/2019 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Chase is an athletic OF/SS that shows the ability to be a versatile player. In the OF, Chase shows effective footwork as he gets in position to work behind the fly ball. He gets good jumps on the ball off the bat taking good angles and gets the ball out of his glove quickly to the infield with an accurate and strong arm. (86 mph raw velo) Hitting, Chase shows good barrel control with a line drive approach using all fields. He gets his foot down on time with a comfortable stride keeping a balanced center. He rotates his lower half through with a smooth swing creating fast bat speed. Chase has good size and tools to be a player at the next level and will continue to develop.

05/13/2018 - College PREP - Spokane, WA Chase continues to show a promising future on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. In the OF, defensive abilities are now outstanding as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft and he presents well, utilizing two hands through the process. Throws are accurate with zip and on line carry through his target. In the MIF, defensive abilities are well above average. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turn of the double play. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path. He flashes strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Chase will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game and he is a sure player to follow.

12/27/2017 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Chase is a player who has shown marked improvements to his game and flashes ability for the next level. He has improved his speed and arm strength, becoming a valuable defender in the outfield. He has active feet and good instincts to get quick jumps and track down long fly balls. He plays through the ball with a strong crow hop to make pinpoint throws and cut down baserunners. At the dish, he has simple, efficient mechanics as he works on a short, direct path to the ball. He has a strong lower half to generate bat speed and spray line drives to all fields. Chase has the tools and upside that make him an exciting prospect.

10/01/2017 - College PREP - Spokane, WA Chase is a lanky OF/SS who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a compact swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel, flashing gap-to-gap pop. In the OF, feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and plays through balls with momentum to his target. First steps are quick and he reads balls well off the bat with range improving as he improves foot quickness. At SS, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active but needs to attack balls and play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to out front. Throws are accurate with carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. With 3 years to further develop, Chase has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
