07/18/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Highland Park (DFW), TX Chase is a hardworking catching prospect who is well-built and graduates in 2017. As a right-handed hitter, Chase has a square setup with his weight in the back of his stance. He takes a short stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Chase has a long swing path at an upward angle. He shows the ability to show solid contact to the opposite field. Behind the plate, Chase has an effective setup and tracks the ball well. He presents a low target and receives the ball with soft hands. He moves well in each direction laterally. Chase has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He plays with good momentum through his release and is building arm strength. Overall, Chase has a well-rounded approach to the game and a projectable skill set with good potential.

12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic Chase is a solid primary C that shows the ability to lead behind the dish. Defensively he has a good setup, receives with soft hands, and works hard on his blocking. His exchange is quick and he stays in line with his throws. At the plate Chase has a good load, short stride, and uses his lower half well. His balance is strong and he has an inside out swing allowing him to spray the ball to all fields. He makes consistent contact and could be a power threat with more strength. Chase's knowledge of the game will continue to allow him to compete at a high level and should be a player to watch as he gets older.

07/15/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Plano (DFW), TX Chase is a big, solid, catcher / 3B with broad shoulders. Behind the plate, Chase has sure hands, active footwork, and he fields in a low / square position. He takes good angles to block, receives well, and he throws with carry from a short / loose arm action to his target. At 3B, Chase has firm hands, he fields low, and he moves well to the glove side. He square up well to throw, and delivers the ball with consistency across the diamond. Offensively, Chase has a square set-up, he stays inside the ball well, and he lets it travel properly. Overall abilities can get better if Chase can work on the following.

Catching
1. Blocking
2. Avoid stabbing
3. Long toss
Infield
1. Play more through
2. Backhand
3. Exchange
Offense
1. Loosen grip

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
