07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Chase is a coachable LHP/OF who continued to work hard on his skills during his time at the National World Series at Pirate City. On the mound, Chase shows a good tempo as he gather over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm action and extends through on his release, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Chase has a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 70mph. Breaking balls sits from 56-57mph with 2-8 break. Changeup ranges from 53-55mph. Chase can improve as a pitcher by keeping a strong front side. In the field, Chase shows active footwork and flashes good range to his backhand side. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistent to his target. Chase can improve defensively by taking a quicker first step. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and maintains center balance. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to square contact to all fields. Chase can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. With four more years to develop, Chase has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

01/21/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Jackson, MS Chase is an athletic, 2-way player who pitches and plays OF. On the mound, Chase stands over the rubber well, he separates on-time, and gets good extension on his pitches. He has a projectable frame, a controlled landing, and rotates well through to his target. In the OF, Chase has active feet, he fields in a square position, and takes good angles to the ball. He has a quick 1st step, makes the routine plays, and throws with accuracy to his target. At the plate, Chase has a closed stance, a short stride, and good balance. He swings in good rhythm, has fast bat speed, and works the ball gap to gap. Overall abilities can get better with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
