01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Athletic and skilled, Chase is a true 2-way player with high level ability both as a pitcher and position player. On the mound he had an impressive outing that included 7 Ks and a quality 3-pitch arsenal - all of which were thrown for strikes. His fastball sat in the 86-88 mph range with some late tail to it, he landed his curve for strikes with tight rotation, and his change was an effective pitch with good arm speed. As a position player Chase swung the bat well from the left side with a rhythmic line drive stroke. His good eye/hand coordination allows him to find the barrel with consistency both in batting practice and games (he had a 1B and 2B in game play). He is also a very capable defender at SS with good instincts, feet and hands. With lots to offer on the field, Chase is a prospect that merits close following.

10/15/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures South Chase is a talented 2-way player who make a positive impact on the game in a number of ways. As a position player he has an aggressive, energetic approach to go with his 6.74 speed in the 60 and a compact LH stroke. He is quick to contact and has the ability to drive the ball to both gaps. He has good knowledge of the strike zone and a confident look in the box. As a defender Chase moves his feet well, shows body control and has sure hands. He is an efficient and dependable fielder. Chase is also very effective on the mound where he uses a 3-pitch mix to attack hitters. He commands his upper 80s fastball well and complements that with a curve ball and change - both of which show promise. This is a complete player with a high baseball IQ who will help you win.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
