07/27/2016 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Chase continues to take strides as he gained 2 MPH on raw velocity and 11 MPH on exit velocity since last summer. In the infield, he stays low on DP feeds and ground balls, being aggressive and not letting the ball play him. Staying athletic on his throws as well will help make DP exchanges quicker and throws to 1st base more quick/accurate. At the plate, he shows plus contact skills, staying inside the ball well and hitting the ball to the opposite field consistently. Continuing to work hard and improve, Chase has room still to grow.

12/27/2015 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Wilson is a scrappy 2017 2B that had consistent quality at bats during the UARC. Chase works through a soft stride and activated load with the hands creating a solid launch position with proper timing. Wilson's line drive approach allows for a short stroke to the baseball and the ability to use all fields from gap-to-gap and he will benefit from loosening the actions to improve extension after contact. Defensively, Chase has quality pre-pitch actions and keeps the ball in front of him properly and will benefit from reaching further out in front to field with softer hands. The backhand technique is clean and the arm stroke fits at 2B with accuracy on throws. A hard-working, team first mentality may be Wilson's best attributes and they will lead him to getting the most out of his abilities.

08/03/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Chase is a solid, compact MIF with quick feet (7.4) and upside as he grows. At the plate, he remains square to the dish with a soft stride and excellent timing. As he works to get more lower half drive and develop physical strength, the power and gap-to-gap shots will appear. At 2B, he shows a mature, athletic approach to fielding. His repeatable mechanics and easy flips/throws make him a reliable fielder. He works low to the ground and with a shorter arm stroke and smoother footwork, his turns and feeds will become quicker. Chase is a great kid with a bright future as he continues to work hard as his skills.

11/06/2014 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Chase is a lean 2B that will graduate in 2017. Foot speed is slightly above average as indicated by his 7.41 60 time. At 2B, feet are active as he works to square balls up, making routine plays. Hands are soft / clean but needs to increase foot quickness and attack balls more to continue to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and through an aggressive / level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a solid line drive approach, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner and keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 3 for 7 with a 3B. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable, works hard, and makes adjustments to be the best player he can be. With 3 years to further develop, Chase has abilities with time and room to continue to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
