09/02/2022 - Baseball Factory's All-Region Tournament (HS) with Video Showcase Chip is a SS who will graduate in 2023 who worked hard at the All-Region Tournament. At SS, showed efficient feet and ability to move lateral. Good rhythm to actions with good fielding angles. Works into a low/square fielding position with some feel for glove pocket. Short arm action into a high 3/4 arm slot with a recorded arm velocity of 86mph. A right-handed hitter who hits from an athletic and even stance with a high hand set. Showed an aggressive approach at the plate and ability to make hard contact. In live game action, he reached base 5 times and showed pull side pop with a bat exit velocity up to 82mph. With another year of growth and development, we foresee him having the opportunity to play at the next level.

06/23/2022 - BF Firecracker Classic WEST 18U Chip is an athletic 2023 SS/RHP who showcased his ability at the Firecracker Classic Tournament. Ran his 60-yard dash in 6.8 seconds. At SS, he showed athletic actions with quick feet and good body control at baseball. Closes distance on batted balls as he fields out front from an athletic/low fielding position with soft hands. Good reads off bat enable him to move well in all directions. Made on-line throws from a high 3/4 arm slot, with a quick release, and an arm velocity up to 91mph. Showed good touch on his DP feeds and good feet around bag on his DP pivots. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and relaxed stance. He showed a simple/repeatable swing with good barrel control. A short/direct barrel path enables him to hit line drives consistently to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 79mph during BP. At the event, he proved to be a tough out as he made consistent contact. He had a single, a walk, a HBP, a stolen base, and an RBI. Good instinctual player who was team leader during the tournament. On the mound, he separates his hands on-time, with a loose/quick arm stroke, and gets his chest over his front knee. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 82mph, and an 11/5 shaped breaking ball that flashes a swing and miss pitch. In 4 innings of work, he punched out 3 hitters and only allowed 1 run. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Chip as he enters his senior year.

Exclusive College Recruiting Program Chip is a very athletic and talented INF who can make things happen on the diamond. Defensively, he has quick twitch actions and comes to get the GB working fluidly from right to left. Hands are soft and exchange is quick as he gets the ball in and out with ease. He can cover ground and has a cannon for an arm which allows him to zip throws across the diamond from deep in the hole. At the plate, he steps into the box and is looking to swing it. Hips and hands work together as bat speed is a plus. He squares the ball up consistently and creates hard contact, with the ability to spray line-drives. A skilled prospect who plays the game hard and has the tools to back it up, Chip has a bright future ahead in the game.

12/20/2021 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Chip is an outstanding SS/RHP in the class of 2023. His best tool is his arm strength (91 velo). In the field, his throws have life and his quick over the top release creates accurate feeds. His feet are active and routinely gets square to the baseball. When Chip learns to play under the ball more in his fielding position, he will become a plus defender. On the mound, he displays a FB and CB from the stretch. The FB sat 77 and CB was 64. He is a polished arm who gets ahead in the count and can put hitters away with his fastball location and tight spin on his breaking ball. At the plate, he had a wide base and looks comfortable and relaxed. He creates hard contact by his body syncing well in his swing. Projects to be a line drive type hitter based on his short approach. Chip is a prospect who will get looks for the next level.

11/07/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Gambrills, MD Chip is an athletic MIF out of Virginia. Defensively, he displayed the ability cover ground and work through the baseball with active feet. His arm played very well and carried through his targets accurately. Offensively, he uses a simple set up to work to a firm front side while making consistent line drive contact. Chip has good tools and with fine tuning parts of his game will be a prospect for college programs if not already.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
