Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • Position Projection

03/17/2019 - College PREP - San Francisco, CA Chris is a tall, solid 1B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying tremendous hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, (90 mph exit velocity) generating bat speed to and through a short / direct / level swing path, creating extension. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball exploding off the bat when centered as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are firm and presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Throws display accuracy with carry to his target. On the mound, arm action is loose, free, and quick. Arm strength is solid as indicated by his top velocity of 81 mph. Fastball shows a range of 83-86 mph on a downhill plane with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Chris has a ton potential and is a sure player to follow.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
