Official Scouting Report

10/13/2019 - College PREP - Baltimore, MD Chris continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 6.90 runner. In the MIF, defensive abilities are now outstanding as he displays smooth, fluid actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork, attacking baseball and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft /sure and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but he will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential is now well above average through a squared setup. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. With 2 years to further develop, Chris has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities as he continues to progress his game.

10/12/2018 - College Recruiting Day - Columbia, MD Chris is an athletic SS prospect who will graduate in 2021. In the field, Chris takes good angles and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front. He gets rid of the ball quickly and makes strong throws across the diamond. Quickening his exchange will help Chris improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and shows a simple load with a square stride. He gets into his load on time and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed which leads to solid line drives. Chris can improve as a hitter by getting more consistent barrel accuracy. Overall, Chris is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
