08/04/2013 - College PREP - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Chris is a big, thick RHP/1B that will graduate in 2014. Currently, he projects best at 1B for the next level. He attacks ground balls and plays through well, presenting clean hands. Hands / feet are fluid and work well through the fielding process. He consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Throws are accurate as he gets rid of the baseball quickly but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are loose to and through a level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to increase as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball showed range of 67-69 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He slows arm speed on his changeup, tipping off pitch to hitters with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Chris has abilities with a lot of room to improve.
