12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Chris continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 2B, defensive abilities have improved as well as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Hands are soft / sure and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength to through a long toss program.

07/15/2017 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Chris is an athletic built 2B prospect who has a well-rounded skill set and graduates in 2018. As a right-handed hitter, Chris has an athletic stance with a centered balance. He has rhythm with a good load and short stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. He has quick hands with a direct swing path to produce consistent contact. Chris is a contact type hitter who has the ability to spray the ball to all fields. In the field, Chris plays with active footwork and agile actions taking the correct angles to cover ground. He fields the ball athletically with a firm glove. He has a quick exchange leading into a short, loose arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He has the ability to change arm angles depending on the play. Chris plays through the baseball with momentum towards his target showing strong, accurate throws across the diamond. Overall, Chris is a hardworking prospect who has an effective approach to the game and upside to advance his skills even further.

06/20/2017 - College PREP - Bridgeport, CT Chris is a lean, athletic 2B/OF who will graduate in 2018. At 2B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Hands are soft / sure but needs to present more out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on the slow roller play. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but will benefit by playing through balls with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he adds overall body strength. Chris has abilities with a lot of room to improve his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
