Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • LHP/1BPosition Projection

11/05/2015 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Elliot continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At 1B, defensive grade has improved the most, displaying smooth/fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft/sure and he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. At the plate, he showed a strong recognition of the strike zone. He is aggressive and works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will continue to increase as he works to load more and utilize his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed good arm side run. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape and flashes potential when he stays on top and does not over throw. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a hard worker and is very coachable.

09/27/2015 - College PREP - Scranton, PA Chris is a LHP/1B with a lean frame and room to fill into his body. On the bump, he throws from a low-3/4 slot with a 2-pitch mix. His FB shows some tail and CB resembles 2-8 shape. Developing command and arm strength will take Chris' abilities to that next step. At 1B, he makes the routine plays and transfers it well. Developing more aggressive actions and lighter feet will allow him to work around the bag quickly with effectiveness. At the plate, Chris hits form a square stance with a contact type swing path. He barrels up the ball consistently with simple actions. Using more of his lower 1/2 and getting separation with his hands will produce more pop to all fields. In all, Chris has time on his side as he continues to develop physically.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
