Official Scouting Report

10/02/2016 - College PREP - Hightstown, NJ Chris continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an above average runner at 7.24. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He moves well laterally, covering a lot of ground, displaying range. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He will benefit by getting behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick / strong (82 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 73-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Building more arm strength through a long toss program will aid in further development on mound.

08/18/2015 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Chris is a tall/projectable (6'0"/150) 2-way player as a SS/RHP. With the bat, this RH swinger shows a balanced setup with rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is quick as he takes an aggressive hack and drives the ball with pop. Finishing with more extension will help to add even more power at the plate. Defensively at SS, Chris shows active footwork and moves well to his glove-side. He gathers smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw with carry across the diamond. On the bump, this RHP has a 4-pitch repertoire coming from a 3/4 arm slot. Arm works loose & free as he works in-line toward the dish. FB ranges from 75-77 as he fills up the zone, throwing strikes consistently. Curveball has 10/4 shape with good action. Changeup shows slight arm-side run which will get in on the RHH. Chris is a skilled player who will make things happen in many facets of the game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
