01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Chris really improved his hitting / power abilities at the Preseason All American event. Hands are quick (95 mph exit velocity) and work to and through an aggressive swing path, creating extension. He has loose levers and strength in his swing with baseball exploding off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. In the IF, feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through while presenting glove well out front. Hands / feet work well together and he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on throws. Chris has a ton of potential and is a sure player to follow.

10/07/2015 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Chris continues to show as 2B/RHP with a promising future on the diamond. Currently, he projects best at 2B for the next level. He utilizes his athletic feet well in his lateral movements, displaying range. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process through the fielding process. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Throws are accurate with carry as he works to get rid of the baseball quickly, displaying well above average arm strength. At the plate is continues to shine through a squared / athletic setup and centered balance. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and makes consistent contact with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 75-79 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program, develops better off speed, and works to throw more strikes. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a team guy and works hard every time he steps onto the field.

07/29/2015 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Chris again showed well during his time at UASW 17U. At 2B - Chris moves well right to left around the GB. He is sure handed and can pick it. Exchange is smooth as he fires strong throws to 1B. Chris is versatile and can play multiple positions in the INF. At the plate, this righty likes the pitch middle-in and will pull it with pop. He connects and creates hard contact with the ball jumping off of his bat at 84 mph. On the mound, Chris had an effective 4 inning outing. He drives off the rubber downhill and pounds the zone with strikes. He challenges hitters and gives his defense a chance. Changeup has slight cut as it compliments his FB well. Iazzetta is a hard worker who wants to take his game to the next level. He is a team player who brings his all to the field every day.

06/03/2015 - Under Armour Southeast Championships, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Chris has progressed nicely and is a very hard worker. With the bat, this RHH has rhythm to load working back into a strong launch position. Barrel delivery is quick with bat speed as he connects with pop, with the ability to use the whole field. He barrels the ball up and proved to be a tough out. Defensively, he has the ability to play multiple spots in the INF. He works quickly into a square fielding position, gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. Chris also got on the mound and threw a few innings. He toes the rubber looking to win the battle against the hitter. Mechanics are sound as he works to a tall balance point and drives downhill toward the dish. He works his FB in and out, throwing it for strikes consistently. Chris is a coachable player who asks questions and wants to get the best out of himself.

12/27/2014 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Chris continues to develop. Offensively, he steps into the box with aggression, looking to take a hack. Swing is repeatable through a level path as he turns on the inside pitch, pulling it with pop. He battles at the plate and proved to be a tough out. At SS, Chris shows active footwork with athletic actions. He moves well laterally, gathers well and works in-line toward his target. On the bump, this tall righty works the ball to both sides of the dish. Breaking ball has 12/6 shape and compliments FB well. He competed and made adjustments inning to inning. Chris has skills and should find success in this his junior year.

He's always asking questions and wants to get better. Offensively, this RHH shows rhythm in his swing working back into a loaded position. He takes an aggressive hack and connects with pop. He had a key bases clearing triple racking up 3 RBI's. In the MIF, Chris communicates well and is a vocal leader. He works light on his feet, funnels the ball smoothly to a clean exchange. 11/06/2014 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Chris continues to show a strong desire and passion to excel in the game. Defensively, he is vocal, takes control in the infield and gets good reads off the bat. He worked his feet to make plays and threw with some present arm strength across the diamond. Offensively, he has a good setup and delivers on a direct path to contact. He is loose with his actions, but needs to be more aggressive early in counts. On the hill, he threw his fastball with deception due to his lengthy frame. He works downhill and gets good extension over his front side. Adding secondary pitches and finding a more consistent pace will improve consistency and effectiveness. In all - Chris continues to be a very coachable player and good teammate.

07/30/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Chris was back at it again with Baseball Factory, showing consistent play on all sides of the ball with a strong baseball IQ and great attitude. On the hill, he threw 3 pitches with a loose arm, downhill action, and good mechanics. He used his lower half to generate some velo and extended through his release. His CH showed very well with sink and deception as he maintained fastball arm speed. Picking up his target earlier and increasing his stride will assist in pitchability. Offensively, he hit with a direct barrel and extension through contact. When his rhythm & timing were on point, he barreled balls up with some pop. Eliminating extra movement, and simplifying his plan will help to make him more controlled and accurate with the barrel. Defensively at short, he came and got the ball and presented his glove well. He was sure to field out in front and threw with momentum to his target. First step quickness and consistency to field will come through added reps. All in all - Chris has a great passion for the game and nothing will deter his pursuit to be the best he can.

He gets good glove side lead and works in-line toward the plate. At SS, Chris is aggressive and attacks the ground ball. He moves quickly working light on his feet. He is vocal and takes control, letting his teammates know the situation. With the bat, the RHH shows some bat speed with the ability to drive the ball. He displays good zone awareness as he is patient (drawing 3 walks at the event). A gamer - Iazzetta leaves it all on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
