Official Scouting Report

  • CPosition Projection

10/28/2018 - College PREP - Corpus Christi, TX Chris is a strong C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Chris gains ground and covers up well when blocking. He sits in a low stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He makes a clean exchange with a quick release on his throws to 2B, keeping them accurate and on-line to the bag. Chris can improve defensively by receiving the ball with softer hands. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He shows a fluid rhythm and maintains center balance. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to consistent contact to all fields. Chris can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. Overall, Chris is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

01/11/2015 - Interactive Video Program - San Antonio, TX Chris is a young catcher who has solid skills. Behind the dish, he sits in well and tracks the ball into his mitt. He is quick around pitches in the dirt, centering/deadening them off of his chest. Exchange is clean as he works in-line toward 2B (pop times of 2.86). With the bat, this RHH shows a square setup with good balance. He gets good hand separation creating leverage. Swing path is level as he connects and extends through the zone. Overall abilities will improve with work on the following.

Catching
1. Arm strength (long toss)
2. Stay low to throw
3. Blocking
Offense
1. More lower 1/2 drive
2. More explosion
3. Let ball travel

11/13/2014 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Chris is a young hard nosed catcher that is a natural leader. He receives with soft / sure hands, moves well laterally when blocking and keeps the ball in front. He has a quick exchange and makes accurate throws to 2B. Offensively Chris has a smooth load, strong balance, and a nice rhythm. He delivers the barrel consistently with good accuracy and can spray the ball to all fields. With his athleticism and leadership skills, Chris is a perfect fit behind the dish and will be fun to watch as he gets older.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
