ADVANCED SWING METRICS BY SWINGTRACKER

Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHPPosition Projection

06/06/2015 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Chris continues to show well on the bump. This RHP has a repeatable delivery and throws strikes with all 3. Arm works loosely as he stays directional toward the plate. FB now ranges from 77-78 mph as he can hit his spots well. Curveball has 11/5 shape with gradual action. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed helping to create some deception. Finishing with more extension out over his front side will help to improve effectiveness on all pitches. With the bat, this righty shows a balanced approach as he tracks pitches into the zone. Swing is quick/level as he connects and hustles out of the box, getting down the 1B line with speed. More power is there with more lower 1/2 drive.

06/08/2014 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Chris is a tall, lean RHP/OF that will graduate in 2016. Currently, he projects best in the OF for the next level. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 6.92 60 time. Defensive grade are solid as he displays smooth / clean hands. Feet are quick / athletic as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground, displaying range. He works to get behind balls well and plays through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a balanced / closed setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, using middle of field well. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 70-72 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with cutting. His off speed stuff show as quality pitches at the next level. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained. With 2 years to further develop, Knapp has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
