Official Scouting Report

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Chris is a lean, athletic 3B/RHP that will graduate in 2019 with a tremendous future on the diamond at both positions. On the mound, he shows a sound mound presence and attacks hitters with an explosive 92 mph fastball. Fastball shows plus arm side run, showing a range of 87-92 mph on a downhill plane. He throws a nasty slider in the low 80 range with tight spin and short break. Control is outstanding as attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. At 3B, he is a smooth/fluid fielder with hands/feet working well together through the process. He moves well laterally and shows a plus backhand. Hands are soft/sure as he presents well out front and shows big play potential in the IF. At the plate, he continues to shine through a soft/athletic setup. Hands are explosive in attacking the baseball through a short/easy swing path. He has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off his bat as he displays power to all fields. With 3 years to further develop, Chris has tremendous upside on the mound and the makings of a solid draft type guy and will get looks as well with his offensive and defensive abilities.

08/16/2013 - Interactive Video Program - South Williamsport, PA Christopher is an athletic catcher with a quick, clean exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws. He is a quiet, steady receiver through a low athletic setup. Offensively, McElevain shows quick hands that generate bat speed. He displays great extension through the zone and has easy strength in his swing. Abilities can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Long toss
2. Blocking
3. Increase foot speed
Offense
1. Load
2. Stay inside the ball

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
