Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Chris is an OF/RHP who graduated in 2021. Large frame, with thick lower, and athletic build with strength to build and room to develop. In the OF, shows active footwork and ability to cover ground. Good 1st step reads enable him to work through the ball. Long arm action in back working into a high 3/4 arm slot coming forward, with accurate/on-line throws, and an arm velocity of 84mph. A right-handed pitcher, works with good tempo and separates on time. Throws a FB that sat 77-79mph with some movement in the zone. Mixed in a CB with 10/4 shape. Induced soft contact in live game action and threw lots of his pitches for strikes. A right-handed hitter begins with an athletic and even stance. On-plane barrel path who made consistent contact into both gaps. Was 5-6 in live game action including 2 doubles and 2 triples with a bat exit velocity of 88mph. With continued growth and development, we foresee Chris having a bright future on the baseball field.

05/09/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Atlanta, GA Chris continues to show as a top prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. In the OF not many balls get down that are hit his way (6.97 60 time). Transfer exchange is smooth as he zips throws (82 mph velocity) on a line through his target. He has the versatility to play all 3 OF spots effectively. In the infield, feet are aggressive as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft/sure and presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds/turn of the double play. At the plate, he continues to shine. He stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression (86mph exit velocity) as he connects with power driving to all parts of the field. Chris has tremendous upside with the makings of a special type player and will get looks from collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Chris is an athletic/projectable (6'1"/185) OF who plays the game hard. In the OF, he has active prep with a quick first step, tracking down fly-balls hit to his right and left. He works through the ball with athletic actions, fields it with soft hands and has a clean transfer to throw. As a hitter, this righty stands in balanced with smooth rhythm to load. He fires the barrel to and though the zone, engages his lower 1/2 and connects with some pop. He hits the ball where it's pitched and sprays it to all parts of the field. A solid all-around OF prospect - Pudney has the tools that will provide success and translate into the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
