Simple and balanced swing with ability to hit line drives into both gaps. Showed a good rear hip coil with good extension. He recorded a bat exit velocity of 84mph. As he continues to develop and mature, we see him having opportunities to play at the next level.

09/20/2020 - All-In Membership - Boise, ID Chris continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.27 runner. At the plate, power potential is well above average through a squared setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. In the OF, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry (82 mph velocity) to his target. On the mound fastball showed a range of 75-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with loose spin. H slows his arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

On the bump, Chris shows a 3-pitch mix with a FB, CB, and CH. the FB is 74-77 with some sink, the CB is 58-62 with 11-5 gradual break, and the CH shows good run with FB arm speed. Pitching, his mechanics have simple movements as he gathers over the rubber showing a loose arm action as he works down the mound. As he works to the plate keeping his stride more even and getting better extension will allow Chris to be more consistent. Overall, Chris shows a solid foundation as a young prospect and will continue to improve.

He has a clean glove tuck and works north to south in his delivery. He gets movement on his fastball, he throws his knuckle ball for strikes, and creates downward run on his sinker. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
