12/20/2022 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at JRTC - Session 1 Chris is a 2024 OF who showcased his skills at the BF Christmas Camp and Tournament. In the OF, he starts in an athletic/relaxed position, with efficient footwork, and creates good angles. He works behind the baseball and fields from an athletic fielding position with hands out front. He creates momentum on his throws into infield, with ability to get rid of the baseball, and an arm velocity up to 85mph. His throws were accurate with good carry. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and square stance with loose hands. Has a controlled load and gets his back hip through to contact. Showed a fast barrel through the hitting zone with a high finish. Made hard contact into both gaps with a bat exit velocity up to 87mph. In live games, he showed good plate discipline as he reached base 6 times with a single, 3 walks, and reached twice on errors. With another year of continued growth and development, we foresee Chris making huge strides on the baseball field.

His CB sat 64-66 with 11/5 shape. He has a good feel for his CH, which sat 66-72 range. He works downhill and can pound the bottom half of the zone. Has great tempo, feel for pitching and solid mound demeanor. At the plate, he has strong intent to power through the baseball (88 exit velo). He has a solid base and can shift his weight with easily. His direct path and extension defines him as a gap to gap type hitter with potential for more. Incorporating more hand separation during his load phase, will generate power to all fields. With four more years to develop, Chris has the ability to become a major candidate for the next level.

At the plate, Chris starts in a tall and squared stance. He stays behind the ball and makes hard contact with the barrel. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball will allow him to get consistent extension through contact. Using the lower half will allow his hands to work more freely and drive the ball gap to gap. Continuing to get the front foot down early will allow him to recognize pitches and be aggressive on the fastball. Chris will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
