01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Chris continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. In the OF, he utilizes his quick/aggressive feet as he moves well laterally, displaying range as he covers a ton of ground. He displays smooth / clean actions with hands / feet working well together through the fielding process as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and zip on his throws. Chris has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the college coaches with his baseball abilities.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Chris is a tall, athletic (6', 180) OF prospect who showed well throughout the week. He shows loose, quick hands at the dish to fire through the zone on a level path. He extends his arms through the contact point to make consistent contact and spray the ball to all fields. His ability to deliver the barrel to the ball profiles him as a potential middle of the order hitter. Chris is an exciting player to watch on the field.

06/03/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Chris continues to show a promising future on the diamond. In the OF not many balls get down that are hit his way. Transfer exchange is smooth as he zips throws on a line through his target. He has the versatility to play all 3 OF spots effectively. A RHH - he stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression (87 mph exit velocity) as he connects with power driving the ball with pop showing best to the pull side.

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Chris is an athletic OF who continues to show well on the diamond. In the field, Chris has efficient feet as he moves to center the ball. He gets into a square, athletic position and presents his hands out front to field the ball. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws which allows them to remain on-line to his target. At the plate, Chris sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride to the ball. He gets into his load and leads well with his lower half. He shows quick hands with a level swing path which leads to square contact to all fields. Only a 2019 grad, Chris has a solid skill-set that will only continue to progress.

12/27/2015 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Walsh is a 2019 OF that showed some promise at the Recruiting Classic. In the OF, Chris showed some carry to throws that were on-line and did show aggressive routes to come in on the baseball when appropriate. Developing more efficient, smooth footwork will lead to increased body control and shorten the transition from catch to throw. Walsh's best attributes came out at the plate. Chris showed a loose, direct bat path with extension through contact with present bat speed coming from coordination of the hips and hands. Quieting down the actions will lead to less jumpiness, which will lead to more consistent results and carry-over from BP to game situations. With years ahead to improve, Walsh's stock should continue to rise as a ball player.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
