01/21/2013 - College PREP - Omaha, NE Christian is a lanky, athletic OF/RHP that will graduate in 2014. Currently, he projects best in the OF for the next level. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 6.98 60 time. Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He needs to work on getting behind balls to play through with momentum to his target and use two hands more to continue to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate is where Biester shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are loose / smooth and work through a level swing path. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he has strength in his swing with the ball jumping off his bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 73-77 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays sweeping action with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup showing a feel for with arm side run. Stock on the mound will rise as more arm strength is gained. Christian has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.
Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
