08/01/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Christian is a young 1B that will graduate in 2014. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front and improve foot speed to continue to improve defensive grades. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Casas shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus with the ball jumping off the bat when centered. At the event, he was 2 for 8 with a 2B. With 2 years to further develop, Christian has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
