Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/OFPosition Projection

01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Christian showed well with his 5'11/165 lbs frame at the Under Armour Baseball Factory Pre-Season All America Tournament. On the hill, he topped out at 86 with his sinking fastball, and spun a sharp CB with 12/6 shape at 67-70. Mechanically, he was sound, repeated his delivery, and had a quick tempo. Defensively, he worked with efficient feet and good body control to make plays in front with a sure glove. He played through the ball and worked with good rhythm to field and throw. At the plate, he got to a good hitting position and used his lower half to drive the barrel through contact. He was consistent to get to contact and with more use of the entire field will hit more successfully. Overall - Christian continues to show growth with his measurables and tools, 7.25 sixty, and is very projectable.

11/16/2014 - National Tryout - Germantown (Memphis), TN Christian continues to show as a RHP and did show in the OF for the first time where currently projects best in the OF for next level but has an upside on the mound. In the OF, defensive abilities are well above average, displaying clean / smooth actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and works to get behind balls, playing through well with momentum to his target. Throws display life, carry, and accuracy through his target as he gets rid of the baseball quickly, now showing a well above average arm. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed and work through a level swing path. He works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time and work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 78-81 mph on a downhill plane. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed arm speed on changeup with arm side run. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength.

04/13/2014 - National Tryout - Bartlett (Memphis), TN Christian only showed on the mound at the event. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 76-82 mph on a slight downhill plane. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with early, gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches and locates to both sides of the plate. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained through a long toss program.

12/27/2013 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Christian is a talented RHP/2B that will graduate in 2016. Defensively, he showed an aggressive first step - leading to good range, a low fielding position and a solid arm with carry. Fielding further in front and refining his backhand mechanics will lead to greater field ability. Offensively, he has a level path and showed a spray approach. He flashes some bat speed and has a sound base to build off of. On the mound, he threw three pitches with good rhythm and arm action. He displayed good balance and showed a lot of upside for when he begins to refine his mechanics. Overall - Goshen is an intriguing prospect that currently projects best at 2B.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
