11/08/2012 - Baseball Factory Training & Competition in Arizona Chris is a solid, athletic RHP/OF that will graduate in 2015. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls as he works to get behind balls, playing through well. He displays fluid, athletic actions in the OF but needs to build more foot quickness to continue to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate, flashing carry as he will benefit by continuing to build arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Herrera shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are loose, quick and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel through a line drive approach. At the event, he was 3 for 6. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 74-78 mph with solid arm side run. Breaking ball has improved, displaying 11/5 shape with gradual breaking action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with fading action. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 3 years to further develop, Chris has abilities with time and room to improve.
