Official Scouting Report

07/13/2015 - College PREP - Carrollton (DFW), TX Christian continues to impress our scouts each time we see him. He has an outstanding body and ran a 6.97 60. He has the ability to be a 2-way guy at a high level. On the mound he has topped at 87-88 all summer and will be a 90's guy shortly. Very good secondary stuff to accompany his FB. He has a repeatable delivery and an understanding for sequences and a feel for pitching. At 1B his athleticism shows around the bag and hands and feet work well through the fielding process. His best tool may be his bat. Has projectable power and can hit for average. Repeats his swing, holds the ground, good hand action. He will be a great addition to whoever is fortunate enough to land him.

01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Julius continues to show plus abilities in his baseball tools on the mound and at 1B with a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, he displays proper foot work around the bag and is a big / quality receiver. Hands are soft / clean as he presents well out front and consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. He has raw strength with baseball exploding off the bat when centered, as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields, displaying gap to gap pop. On the mound fastball was in the low 80 range with a quality changeup. He throws strikes with all his pitches, attacking hitters and shows outstanding command and control. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Christian has a lot of potential and will gets looks from the collegiate coaches, possibly as a two-way guy.

12/07/2014 - College PREP - Grand Prairie (DFW), TX Christian is a gifted 2016 that showed good athleticism, running a 7.04 sixty. Offensively, he got himself to a good hitting position, on-time and generated excellent bat speed down to hit. He showed good oppo-pop and got extended with his accurate barrel. Defensively at 1B, he worked good angles to field out in front and with sure hands. He had a sound approach and a quick release to throw. On the mound, he topped out at 82 with his FB and spun an 11/5 CB from 69-71. Mechanically, he had good presence and stayed in-line with his delivery. A stronger front side and the development of a CH are crucial to his mound success. All in all - Julius is an intriguing prospect that we look forward to seeing compete at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season event presented by Baseball Factory.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
