05/23/2021 - All-In Membership - Bowie, MD Christian is a C/3B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2026. Behind the dish, Christian gains ground when blocking and keeps dirt balls in front of him. He presents a good target to the pitcher and receives with a firm glove. He throws from a high 3/4 angle and keeps his throws consistent to the 2B bag. Sitting in a lower stance can help Christian improve his overall catching ability. At 3B, Christian shows active footwork and covers ground well. He fields the ball out in front of his body and makes on-line throws across the diamond. Christian can field ground balls more efficiently by getting into a lower fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He shows smooth rhythm and gets good extension through the ball, using the entire field well. Driving his lower half more can help Christian generate more pop off the barrel. On the mound, Christian works with a clean arm and stays inline toward the plate, finishing with a controlled landing. He operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 63mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 50-54mph with 9-3 break. Changeup sits from 53-54mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Gathering to a balance point over the rubber can help Christian be more controlled throughout his delivery. With five more years to develop, Christian has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
