Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/2BPosition Projection

12/27/2015 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Christian competed as both a RHP/2B with an athletic frame at the Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic. Defensively, he worked his body to a good fielding position on-time, and was sure with the glove to secure the ball. His movements laterally were sound and he had a good exchange/transfer to throw and feed double play balls. With the stick, he worked his barrel on a direct path to contact and rotated his core to generate torque. He was selective at the plate, waiting for his pitch and his hands worked well allowing for late explode. Christian also showed exceptional baserunning ability, taking the extra bases when possible and getting quick dirt ball reads. On the hill, he threw his FB and an 11/5 CB from a simple/repeatable delivery. He kept his eyes on the target to throw strikes, and worked well on the outer half. Overall - Christian is a good athlete that brings good energy to the field day in and day out.

10/04/2015 - College PREP - Spokane, WA Christian is a lean, young RHP/2B that will graduate in 2018 with a promising future on the diamond. Currently, he projects best on the mound for the next level. Arm strength is solid as indicated by his top velocity of 83 mph. Fastball shows a range of 80-83 mph with glove side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches at the next level. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches, attacking hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At 2B, feet are active / aggressive as he works to square balls up, displaying clean hands. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he increases foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick, aggressive as he attacks the ball through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a solid line drive approach. Power grades will continue to improve as he works to stay back and utilize his lower half more aggressively through the swing. With 3 years to further develop, Christian has an upside on the mound and will gets looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
